Providence, RI: We seek an experienced, compassionate Physiatrist to join a prominent and growing Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation team on the Inpatient Consult Service in the states largest hospital. Provide clinical support in the newly renovated 13-bed inpatient rehab unit in a 700+ bed acute care hospital and academic medical center. Come to beautiful Providence, Rhode Island 45 minutes from Boston!Fellows and Residents still completing their PM&R training are encouraged to apply now!This unit provides intensive rehabilitation therapy for patients recovering from Neurological/Stroke, Cardiac, Orthopedic and other injuries and illnesses. This respected research center recently received a $25 Million grant from the Department of Defense for research on Spinal Cord Injury, to help veterans.In the Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit, you will perform inpatient consults, provide direct patient care, and help manage patient flow in and out of the unit. You will screen patients, work with the multi-disciplinary team for coordinated care, and discharge patients. This group interacts with existing programs to provide seamless patient care, reducing readmissions. Join 19 Physiatrists in various hospital departments a team of friendly, enthusiastic and caring specialists, therapists and nurses.These functions focus on the comprehensive management of various disorders and conditions. Collaborate with an acclaimed Spine Center and Neurosurgery department. Pain specialists manage interventional procedures including therapeutic blocks and a successful Intrathecal Pump program. Physiatrists play a significant role in medical care while actively working in clinical research. You will network with primary care, specialists and other practitioners within the hospital system and at the community level.This important inpatient unit provides an integrated total care plan where therapists work closely with the physicians to see patients through treatment, rehab and recovery. Physiatrists work with a care manager to coordinate physician specialists, nurses, physical and occupational therapists, speech language pathologists and others. Inpatient rehab patients have at least three hours of therapy per day, at least five days per week. Patients must require medical management and are seen by physicians at least three times per week.Become part of a cutting-edge practice in an Ivy League academic medical center where you will teach residents (in Neurosurgery, Neurology and Orthopedics) and medical students.
