As Broadcast Engineer reporting to the Broadcast Engineering Manager, based in our Feltham Media Centre, your major responsibility will be to maintain a high level of engineering and operational support for studio equipment and related systems. That will include associated hardware and software within Transmission, MCR and Post-production, as well as other operations to facilitate the smooth running of the Centre. Key features of the role include:

• equipment/systems replacement and temporary hardware/system changes
• operational support for the Projects team
• controlling processes and procedures surrounding the Broadcast Engineering department
• liaison between Broadcast Engineering and Operational teams for fault resolution and tracking.
You’ll also be a point of contact outside business hours for fault-finding and site maintenance.

With at least an HNC in an Electrical/Electronic, Communication, Computer Science or Broadcast-related discipline, you’ll have a Broadcast Engineering background with a proven track record in Virtual Studio Systems. Experience with OmniBus would be desirable for this Broadcast Engineer role. Ideally gained within a media company, this will be underpinned by a working knowledge of broadcast automation systems for both studios and transmission. Your knowledge of digital broadcast techniques, terrestrial, cable, and satellite technologies with match strong computing skills, including UNIX/DOS/WINDOWS operating systems. Other attributes will include:

• good working knowledge of SDI, AES, HD, DTTV, MPEG, DVB systems
• a clear grasp of non-linear and linear post-production facilities
• technical awareness of emerging broadcast technology
• an understanding of current Health & Safety legislation.
