Acting Head of Film – Maternity Cover for up 14 months
Starting October 2013 / Salary – dependent on relevant experience

The Awards Department at BAFTA produces five ceremonies per year – Film, Television, Television Craft, Children’s and Games. This department now requires a highly competent and experienced individual to provide maternity cover for the Head of Film, a key role within the Awards Department.

Initially, the successful candidate will work with the Head of Film in a supporting role, before the maternity cover begins in December. The Acting Head of Film will play a crucial role in the delivery of the EE British Academy Film Awards in 2014, working closely with BAFTA’s CEO Amanda Berry, and will be the main liaison point for film-related policy and discussions at the Academy.

The Acting Head of Film’s key responsibilities will be: collating and processing online entry forms, managing the online voting process and communicating with the membership about the awards process. The candidate should be able to write press releases and be comfortable as the main point of liaison with nominees, film distributors, agents and publicists. The successful candidate will also be responsible for ensuring the Film Awards rules are followed, work with the production company on elements of the television broadcast and manage the administration of the Academy’s Film Committee.

The ideal candidate should have extensive knowledge of and contacts in the film industry, preferably in the distribution sector, be well organised, able to remain calm under extreme pressure, have proven experience of managing and executing complex administrative projects, and excellent communication skills.
